CHAPTER HISTORY

The Southern Nevada Chapter of MOAA was established in August of 1965 as The Southern Nevada Retired Officers Club, an affiliate of The Retired Officers Association of America (TROA). The association began with 70 Charter members. The first President of the organization was Clinton S. Maupin, Colonel, US Army. The chapter has been active for more than 58 years.

We have approximately 120 members, some of which are surviving spouses whose chapter dues are free in recognition of many years of dedicated service as spouses of deceased military members. The average age of our members is over 60 years. One of our goals is to recruit younger members.

We received the five star Level of Excellence Award from MOAA for the last 17 years.

Under IRS Provision 501-C-19, our chapter is a nonprofit and non partisan association that is a lob for the benefit of all uniformed services.
